The land
Tanzania is one of the five East Africa countries
It is the largest, with a 945,000 sq km. It lies in the tropics, just 5 degrees south of Equator, so the length of day and night is the same throughout the year: besides, the temperatures min/max are 20/35 Celsius in most parts of country, but mostly hardly exceed 30.
Due to varying terrain, climatic conditions ranging from Savannah to Temperate are experienced.
The country has a long coastline bordering Kenya to the North and Mozambique to the South.
It has large inland freshwater lakes, Victoria, Tanganyika, Malawi and Rukwa.
The people
Several tribal groups
The country consists of more than 200 ethnic groups, but the larger ones, with one million or more population, do not exceed 10. Some ethnic groups are being threatened by extinction (although one could hardly say genetic interbreeding is extinction, which is what is taking place regarding the tribes that stuck to the vocation of their ancestors of hunting and fruit gathering into the 21st century).
Political
Tanzania: a union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar
Tanzania Nation was born in 1964 when Tanganyika united with Zanzibar. This union, called The United Republic of Tanzania has Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
Tanzania Mainland has 20 regions while Zanzibar has five.
